Is it even possible?
somehow its hard to believe all that happened today. today there was definitely a fair share of the good and bad.the day began,with me dragging myself to school. i was full of apprehension. this morning there was an SYF CO exchange at RI with 7 other schools.being the worrisome person that i was, it was hard for me not to be bothered with how i would perform at the exchange. afterall, if i played it right once, i would want it to be done always. well thats perfection for you. all too soon,it was our turn to take the stage. it was most annoying when there was a delay in starting for time only caused the feeling of nervousness and fear to creep over me.the sound of my "obedient" pipa(haha gen!) sounded weird to my own ears. when it came to the lun i was so stunned i pressed the wrong notes and my fingers seemed to freeze into stillness. then, something happened during FNJ, i don't know what came over me. suddenly, i felt so energised or something. i started playing really hard i could feel my fingers vibrating because of the sheer force i was exerting. while playing, i actually did tai feng. gosh i didn't even have any conscious thought about how i wanted to move or what i was supposed to play. my mind was blank. yet i was playing. so weird.. its as if i was being controlled by some unseen force. all in all, i'd redckon that today was the worst i ever played so far. immediately after the exchange, the four of us Val,Min Er, Sophia and I were picked up from RI by Ms tan to go for the Brainy triathatlon competion. it was so nice of her to come pick us up. but the ride there was weird. the maxi cab was spacious but i felt pretty cramped because of the bumpy road. when we reached the competition venue we looked for a place to have lunch. to our surprise, she brought us to eat at some chinese restaurant. again we were amused. while making small talk we waited for the dishes to arrive. the food was pretty good. Sophia didn't eat a lot of the dishes:) so picky XD she's so cute! ah and then i made valerie eat an extra piece on meat hahha! after lunch we went to the ladies and i saw a cockroach on the floor. it wasn't moving so i didn't bother to stomp on it. valerie on the other hand kicked it out. so brave! i wouldn,t even bother. then, we went to the multi purpose hall. gosh the noise was unbearable. there was a cacophony up there.the music was blasting at an unearthly decible till my head hurt and this was accompanied with people screamking at the top of their voices; trying to sell their wares. after half and hour we were asked to be seated at our assigned tables. Val, Min Er and I were Team 2 so our table was right in front. when the emcee spoke,i found myslef recoiling, the sound was simply unbearble.fervently, i pressed my hands against my ears.in the hall there was this big clock the kind you see in those chess competitions that go by the seconds. the competition master pulled the trigger and the competition began. the first task was the rubix cube. Valerie took care of that in her pro way and we raised our hands. adrenaline rush! then we proceeded to the next task, word aerobics. that was tough there were several we were not to sure of. we skipped them and came back to them later.we narrowed it down to one which we were totally clueless about. but we decided to sacrifice it and move on knowing that we would need more time to solve the next task:sudoku puzzle.as i knew little about solving such puzzles, i was scribbling words of encouragement, looking at the big clock and saying little prayers.with the combined effort of the two, the puzzle was finally solved and all of us checked for one mistake could result in us being disquailified. after a quick check, we decided that we were happy with it and raised our hands. when the results were pasted on the board, it was ms tan who told us. not believing what i heard i went with min er and valerie to see for ourselves. i saw it!! we were third. we felt so surprised and we were simply euphoric hugging each other there and then. it was only when i held the trophy, when i felt that it was really happening. feeling joyful, i made my way back to ah ma's house a long mrt ride all the way to the other side of the country.
