poem done during the lit creative writing course
just for the sake of reviving my blog i decided t post the poem we were forced into the writing. she gave us a stone and we write a poem on it. gosh what a boring subject matter.
A Stone
My fingers traced the contours of the stone
like explorers on a voyage.
their ship sailed over the smooth sea of uneven shades;
all fused into one
leaving behind bands of foam.
Soon the sea was calm no more
cracks, potholes and bumps galore
jolted the ship to a precarious angle.
A journey once perfect was no longer so
and all was illustrated in a single
stone.
the teacher's comment was : "i'm not sure i understand you."
which was a pity. the ship= a potrusion in the rock
smooth sea= the smooth texture of some parts of the rock
bands of foam= the 3 distinct parallel lines on the rock
cracks, pothholes, bumps= the eroded and rough parts of the stone
precarios angle= the potrusion was close to the edge of the stone. if the stone surface is the sea, then the ship would be at a precarious angle for it may capsize.
after explaining the above, i glad that she got it. yay! you see she said use you immagination and i did. i know it seems far fetched though. but it's my first formal attempt in writing a poem :)
ahh its time for lunch
